Nine out of Ten Brazilians believe that they are among the poorest in the country

On a scale from 0 to 100, where the extremes constitute the poorest and the wealthiest in Brazil, where could you put yourself?

Nine in each ten Brazilians (88%) consider they are up to point 50; this is, within the half representing low earning.

That is the result of a survey carried out through Datafolha, in partnership with the NGO Oxfam Brazil, which interviewed 2,025 people to measure their belief on inequality in the 10th most unequal country in the world.

According with Rafael Georges, marketing campaign coordinator for Oxfam, the main conclusion of the study is that there may be a reasonable notion of inequality in Brazil, but also that it is underestimated.

“People feel it, but cannot calculate its size,” he said.

He is relating to two trends found by the survey. On the one hand, there is a certain realization of Brazilian reality: 91% agree that few people earn a lot and a lot of people earn very little.

On the other hand, it’s difficult to understand income distribution in the country.

Even amongst people who make more money – as a minimum R$ 4,700 (US$ 1,450) a month, – 68% assume they’re at the half with the lowest incomes, when, in truth, they are among the wealthiest.

According to Georges, this makes it extra difficult to reduce inequality.

“In order to change, people need to be aware of where they are, otherwise there is this idea that government has to serve them the same way it serves the poorest.”

Solar And Wind Power – Two Golden Chances To Solve The Global Power Crisis

Solar and Wind Power

Today, when man has brought the planet on the verge of total destruction, finding alternatives to the fast disappearing non-renewable energy base, could mean a new lease on life, a new hope that a viable future can exist. As things stand today, nobody can guarantee the fate of this wonderful planet called Earth.

Solar And Wind Power – The Twin Injections Of Hope

Already a good number of research studies have been carried out on the feasibility to harness solar and wind power for the day-to-day life of humans. It has also been explored on how the same solar and wind power can be applied to industrial sectors, automobile sector and so on.

Solar power (solar batteries, solar panels, etc) is the energy which comes from the sun. This energy is captured through solar panels (which are still awfully expensive) which absorb the sunlight whenever it is available (they are known to do an excellent job, even when it’s cloudy); the energy thus saved can provide sufficient electricity to run a household of four members quite comfortably.
